The Rudie Nudie playmats and picnic blankets have a soft top layer, a small padded layer in the middle and a waterproof bottom layer. Liquid soaks into the playmat (rather than forming a puddle on top) but it won't seep through to your floor.

We have two sizes of playmats and one size of picnic blanket - the Regular Playmat is 35" x 35" (90 cm), the Large Playmat is 51" x 51" (130 cm), and the Picnic Blanket is 79" x 79" (200 cm). All are waterproof and machine washable.

Regular Playmat (35"):

The playmats are great for potty training - lay it under the potty or sit it on the couch (kids tend to have accidents while watching TV - they get distracted and forget to go).

At night, place it on top of the fitted sheet so when they have an accident you peel off the playmat rather than changing the whole bed.

Sensory and messy play can be as simple as some cups and a saucepan filled with water. Start small and build up - shaving cream, water beads, food coloring, dried pasta and rice are all great low-cost starters. Add scoops and containers to make it more engaging as your child gets comfortable.

Yes! They make a perfect beach picnic blanket - they protect bottoms from damp sand, and the sand falls right off the back of the playmat so you don't have to take the whole beach home with you.

The Picnic Blanket folds to roughly 12" x 15" x 6" inside its drawstring backpack carry bag. Adds a little more if loosely folded - the drawstring backpack is big enough to fit it with a casual fold.

The underside of the playmats and picnic blankets is a black fabric. They're waterproof either way, but you won't have your Rudie Nudie design on top. Some families flip them and use the black side up for the messiest play to keep the printed side clean.

We recommend a cold wash and hanging out to dry. Regular warm or hot washes and tumble drying can deteriorate the waterproof lining.

For the Picnic Blanket size, we recommend an extra spin cycle. It can hold a lot of water (it's absorbent), and the extra spin reduces dripping while drying and helps it dry quicker.

We also recommend hanging out to dry as soon as you've used the playmat or picnic blanket - mold can form if it sits damp for a while, especially with the waterproof layer. If you can't wash it right away, hang it up to dry until you can.

Our playmats and picnic blankets wash up well most of the time but they can still stain - the top layer is soft fabric. Even certain brands of "washable" paints can stain clothes, playmats and picnic blankets. Remember though - the Rudie Nudie playmats are built to save the mess, so it's better the playmat is stained than your lovely carpet.

We don't recommend the dryer - it can cause the waterproof lining to deteriorate. They dry very quickly hanging up though.

It should fit in most machines - the Picnic Blanket weighs about 4.6 lb without the drawstring bag. A standard top-load or front-load machine that handles a regular wash load can manage it.

You can wipe off solid spills, but the playmats and picnic blankets are absorbent (not wipeable like a plastic mat). Liquid soaks in - that's why machine washing is the way to clean them.

Express shipping isn't currently offered. Standard US shipping is free and usually arrives in 3-5 business days from our Utah warehouse.

Yes you can. At checkout you can select the gift wrap option - we'll wrap your playmat (except for Picnic Blankets, which are too big to wrap) and include a personalised gift card with whatever message you'd like. We never include invoices in any of our orders, so the recipient won't know how generous you actually are.

If you change your mind about your order, please notify us within 30 days of receiving it. A refund or exchange will be issued if the item and packaging are returned in their original condition.

Please keep your tracking details as proof of return. Return shipping is at the cost of the purchaser.

If the item is returned in original condition, we can issue an exchange for another design once it's received. We'll invoice you for return shipping to send out the replacement, and if you've decided to exchange for a larger size, we can invoice you for the price difference.

Although rare, we occasionally see minor faults. Please notify us immediately at hello@rudienudie.com.au. Include pictures and a description of the fault. We offer 12 months cover for any faults.

Please note that damage due to wear and tear (loose or snagged stitching, pilling, color run from other items in the wash, fading, mold and damage caused by your washing machine) is not covered.

If you follow the care instructions, the playmats and picnic blankets stay waterproof. Hot washes and tumble drying can cause the waterproof layer to deteriorate. We guarantee the waterproof layer for 6 months.

Items with minor flaws that are still in good working condition are donated to local charities. For items that aren't working as they should, we recycle them through textile recovery programs - so very little ends up in landfill.
